Jorge and Lincoln – Fine Young Brazilians

Jorge and Lincoln – Young Brazilian utility players and first class talents

Jorge Marco de Oliveira Moraes (simply known as Jorge)

Positions: Left full back, left wing-back (attacking back)

Flamengo

Brazil U-20: 2015 – 6 appearances, 1 goal

Jorge is not among the first names you hear when young Brazilian talents are mentioned by name. I believe the reason is his position on the pitch. Brazilians love their attacking midfielders, forwards and strikers. They respect their defensive talents, but they do not easily fall in love with them. Jorge will probably grow to become an exception to this rule, just like Roberto Carlos became. Only time will tell what might be the outcome.

A versatile, left-footed player, Jorge has the skills of a wide left-sided midfielder or winger, but he is better known for his great tacking ability, his marking skills, his simple sense of positioning; his defensive skills. A young star who is probably a little bitter as Brazil didn’t manage to win the U-20 World Cup 2015, but only got a silver medal hung around his neck.

Lincoln Henrique Oliveira dos Santos (simply known as Lincoln)

Born: 7 November 1998

Height: 177 cm

Positions: Attacking midfielder, left midfielder / winger

Club career

Grêmio

2015 – 28 appaerances, 3 goals
Yellow cards: 3

Red cards: 1

International career

Brazil U-17 (appearances and goals unknown)

Pep Guardiola has just signed one of Brazil’s biggest talents to Manchester City: Gabriel Jesus from Palmeiras for £27mill. Gabriel Jesus has for long been widely known as one of the greatest Brazilian talents as of today.

Here is another of the players deemed to be the most talented Brazilian as of now: Lincoln Henrique – a highly versatile and quite stunning young winger and central attacking midfielder playing for Grêmio.

Lincoln is a teenager, and already has everything one could ever ask for. Well, his age considered, maybe not everything. Not just yet, but Lincoln is indeed a young Brazilian every football fan in the country have heard of and think highly of. A new Zico, perhaps? A new Neymar? Lincoln has every Brazilian eye on him when he plays football for Grêmio and Brazil U-21. Lincoln may not be loved yet, but he is an attacking midfielder; as such he is a big Brazilian love affair for Brazilian fans all over the country itself and the world at large.

Ovie Ejaria: Liverpool F.C. wonder kid, pre-season 2016

Ovie Ejaria – Liverpool F.C. U-21

Born: November 18, 1997 (London)

Talented midfielder Ovie Ejaria joined Liverpool in the summer of 2014 after spending the previous nine years with Arsenal. He is a central midfield player with a great engine and eye for a pass, and he started life at the Academy in the U18 squad for the 2014-15 season.

July 8, 2016: Ovie Ejaria makes his unofficial senior debut for Liverpool F.C. Not many people had even heard his name before they read the starting line-up for the pre-season friendly match against Tranmere Rovers.

One of the German’s first acts as Liverpool boss was to watch Ejaria score the winner for the under-18s at the Academy in Kirkby.

Ovie Ejaria speaks, and Liverpool Echo reports (July 8, 2016)

«Obviously first impressions are important and it was a great feeling to be able to play in front of him. It’s exciting because he’s new in and everyone is trying to make a first impression on him and trying to get our way up to Melwood. Knowing that he was watching us was a great feeling.»

July 22, 2016: 90MINS reports:

Liverpool are set to offer a professional contract to impressive club youngster Ovie Ejaria. The 18-year-old has impressed so far during the Reds’ pre-season and was included in the squad for the tour of the US.

Now, according to Own Goal Nigeria, Ejaria is set to be rewarded for his impressive performances with a pay rise and a senior squad number.

«Preliminary talks have taken place over a new contract but nothing has been proposed yet maybe in the coming days and his current shirt number has also been talked about but we wait and see if he will change it before the start of the season,» a source close to the player is quoted as saying.

The attacking midfielder made 11 appearances and gaining a reputation for having a great engine and a good eye for a pass.
Ejaria has clearly impressed Klopp and U-21 boss Michael Beale has urged the players in the development side to do the same.

Ejaria – a home-grown talent of Nigerian heritage – is, like Sheyi Ojo, eligible to represent England at senior level.

Liverpool Echo refers to him as ‘young Nigerian star’ as it is reported «talented Liverpool youngster Ovie Ejaria is facing a spell on the sidelines due to a groin injury. The 18-year-old midfielder won’t feature in the Reds’ final match of their tour of America against Roma in St Louis on Monday night.

Liverpool have yet to discover the full extent of the damage but Ejaria is expected to be sidelined for a few weeks. It’s a blow to the teenager who has enhanced his reputation with some fine displays for Jurgen Klopp’s side in the pre-season fixtures. Ejaria was one of the Reds’ standout performers in the defeat to Chelsea in Pasadena before sitting out the win over AC Milan in Santa Clara.» (Aug 1, 2016)

This Is Anfield published a story online July 9, 2016.

Speaking on the announcement of Jurgen Klopp’s contract, Reds owners John W. Henry and Tom Werner said that «the ideas and plans Klopp has for the football infrastructure excite us.»

Following Liverpool’s win at Prenton Park on Friday night, Klopp seemed to reveal one of these plans, suggesting an overhaul of the club’s training structure.

The 49-year-old implied that this could involve the realisation of a long-standing plan to unite Melwood, the first-team’s current facility, and Liverpool’s Kirkby academybase.

«We need to develop the club, we need to develop a lot of things,» he told reporters. «We’re already building a new stand, we’re thinking about bringing the Academy and Melwood together, things like this. We think about everything at the club and this is much longer-term than my contract. So it’s really important that we do the right things so this wonderful club can be successful.»
